Gail P. Size, BS, RVS, RVT, FSVU Gail Size
has over 20 years of technical and managerial experience in both clinical and private vascular laboratories. She is
the founder and president of Inside Ultrasound, Inc. a provider of Basic Training in Noninvasive Vascular Testing, Adult and
Stress Echocardiography Testing, and Vascular Interpretation of Physicians. Gail's most recent undertaking is the
creation of the Southwest Area Vascular Association and is the Vice-President and Education Coordinator for www.vascular-web.com; a web site devoted to the vascular professional as a total resource
tool. Gail is having a great time promoting and connecting everyone together in hopes of creating a stronger vascular
technology/ultrasound society and community. Gail has lectured, authored numerous publications, conducted workshops
and has been involved in presentations throughout the United States and Europe. She has served as the President of the
Chicago Area Vascular Association, an application reviewer for ICAVL, board Society of Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) Midwest
regional chapter advisor, Co-Chair and Chairman of the Society of Vascular Ultrasound’s Education committee which
during that time the committee authored the SVU position statement “Standards for Undergraduate Educational Programs
in Vascular Technology” and served on the SVU’s Board of Directors and is presently the Southwest Regional Chapter
Advisor for the SVU. In 1998 Gail was awarded the Distinguished Service award by the Society of Vascular Technology
and the Advanced Practice Sonographer – Vascular by the SDMS in 2003 and elevated to the status of Fellow in the
Society of Vascular Ultrasound also in 2003. Claudia A. Benge, RDCS, RDMS,
RVT Has over 25 years of diagnostic ultrasound experience performing a wide
variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations including cardiac, vascular, general, ob-gyn, breast, small parts, and musculoskeletal.
Claudia was the coauthor of both a cardiac and a general ultrasound cross-training manual for Methodist Hospital
(now Clarian), Indianapolis, IN. Claudia has taught ultrasound to sonographers and physicians; she was
an adjunct instructor and clinical coordinator for Butler University’s Associate Degree in Diagnostic Ultrasound (1980-1985).
Claudia has given numerous lectures in cardiac, peripheral vascular, billing & coding for ultrasound and quality
improvement. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Society of Vascular Ultrasound and the
Cardiovascular Credentialing International Board. Claudia has performed applications training for various
ultrasound manufacturers. In 2001, Claudia opened Benge & Associates in Carmel, Indiana.
Benge & Associates is an organization that performs Diagnostic ultrasound accreditation consulting, training,
lectures, applications, PRN, Quality Improvement, and Quality Auditing. Janice D. Hickey, MRT, RDMS, BSc. Janice
has more than 12 years of experience performing a varied array of ultrasound including abdomen, gynecology, high-risk obstetrics,
sonomammography, neonatal neurosonography and vascular ultrasound. Her extensive and broad experience makes Janice uniquely
qualified to teach and prepare others in the field of OB/GYN. Janice has a Health Science degree from Queens University, Canada
as well as a sonography diploma from Mohawk College, Hamilton, Ontario and a radiography diploma from the Toronto Institute
of Medical Technology (The Michener Institute). Janice is the author of two ultrasound review books in conjunction with Dr
Franklin Goldberg. Her books include Ultrasound Review of Obstetrics and Gynecology,
and Ultrasound Review of the Abdomen, Male Pelvis and Small Parts. These books have received wide acceptance and recognition
both in the US and in Europe with multiple language translations. Additionally, Janice has traveled as part of a federal medical
team, serves on the SDMS's Continuing Education Committee as a Florida State Representative. Janice is also the Program
Director for Pegasus Lectures' College Partnership Program and a faculty member of Pegasus Lectures. pegasuslectures.com.
Amy
M. Lex, MS, RT(R), RDMS Amy has a strong clinical background in sonography and radiology
and has been involved in clinical education and imaging for twenty years. Amy holds a Master of Science
degree in Health Occupations Education, with an undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences. Amy
carries the ARDMS registries in breast, ob/gyn and abdomen, and is also a registered radiographer. Amy
is passionate about breast imaging and has lectured nationally and internationally to clinical audiences including physicians,
technicians and sonographers. Amy has lectured nationally on a variety of other sonography topics including Musculoskeletal
Ultrasound, 3D and 4D Ultrasound and Sonohysterography. Amy has spent 15 years of her career in the corporate domain teaching
customers and clinical personnel on emerging and new technologies all over the world. In 2004, Amy
Lex founded Sound Solutions that provides consulting, education, training, and lecturing services. Ann Needham, RN RVT Ann has been a Registered Vascular Technologist since 1983. The majority of her nursing career was as a Head Nurse in critical
care. Fortunate to have worked with David Sumner, M.D. and Robert Barnes, M.D. – both pioneers in vascular surgery and
vascular technology – Ann has authored publications related to statistics, venous disorders, carotid artery disease
and cold sensitivity. In 1989, she was awarded Best Poster Presentation at the Society of Vascular Technology (SVT) Annual
Meeting, in New York. Ann was a Board member of the SVT from 1987-1990. She has been on the faculty of the Peripheral Vascular
Ultrasound at Wake Forest University since 1984. She and Terry have four children, five grandchildren and a vegetarian dog.
Terry Needham, RVT, FSVU Terry has been a Registered Vascular Technologist since 1984. With a physics background in the UK, he has worked with Felix
Eastcott, M.D., Jimmy Yao, M.D., Bill Evans, M.D. and Bob Hobson, M.D. Terry has authored 15 original articles/book chapters,
co-authored more than 60 others and has been Director of the Peripheral Vascular Ultrasound course at Wake Forest University
since 1984. He was granted the Distinguished Service Award of the Society of Vascular Technology (SVT) in 1992 and elevated
to Fellow of the Society in 1997. He was Treasurer of the SVT from 1983-85. An avid photographer (he used to do it professionally),
Terry has only one wife but three computers.
Marsha M. Neumyer, BS, RVT , FSVU Marsha M. Neumyer is an assistant professor
of surgery at Penn State’s College of Medicine and former director of the Vascular Laboratory Section of the Penn State
Vascular Institute, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She currently serves as International Director of Vascular Diagnostic
Educational Services and Director and CEO of Vascular Resource Associates, www.vasculared.com an international education and consulting service. She is recognized internationally
as an educator and for her contribution to the field of noninvasive vascular technology. Ms. Neumyer is a past president of
the Society of Vascular Technology and a founding member of the Intersocietal Commission for Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories
(ICAVL). She is a Fellow of the Society of Vascular Technology and a Fellow and member of the Board of Governors of the American
Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. She was the 1997 recipient of the Joan Baker Pioneer Award given by the Society of Diagnostic
Medical Sonography. Marsha has published over 60 manuscripts, 17 book chapters, 12 educational videos and has co-edited and
co-authored multiple textbooks on vascular diagnostic techniques. Her editorial responsibilities include the Video Journal
of Color Flow Imaging and The Journal of Vascular Technology. Terry Reynolds, BS, RDCS Terry has been active in the field
of echocardiography since 1983 and is the Director of the School of Cardiac Ultrasound at the Arizona Heart Institute. As
a nationally recognized lecturer and educator, he has been instrumental in advancing the utilization of noninvasive echocardiographic
hemodynamic assessment. In addition to his clinical talents, Terry established the Cardiac School of Ultrasound at the Arizona
Heart Institute in 1985. He is currently the Director and Chief Administrator of the Cardiac School of Ultrasound. He has
numerous publications to his credit and has authored several textbooks including The Echocardiographer’s Pocket Reference
and The Pediatric Echocardiographer’s Pocket Reference.
