Course
Description
This introductory level course provides a basic understanding of peripheral arterial duplex and physiological testing
for both technologists and physicians. The course includes: basics of Doppler and transducers, spectral analysis, color
Doppler, anatomy & hemodynamics of the upper and lower extremity arterial system, clinical aspects of disease, physical
examination and patient history, peripheral arterial testing of the lower and upper extremities including duplex, graft analysis,
pseudoaneurysm detection, CW Doppler, segmental pressure, ankle brachial index, waveform analysis, pulse volume recording,
pedal digit, hand digit, thoracic outlet syndrome, palmer arch patency, cold immersion, examination protocols, diagnostic
criteria, reporting and testing validation.
Normal course length is 3 days
Normal class size is 1 to 6 participants
15 hours of CME are available from the Society of Vascular Ultrasound

A master copy of the course material is included in the fees, or we will ship pre-assembled binders for a nominal cost per
item. If you choose to receive the master copy of the course material, we ask that copies be made and put in binders, one
per student
Continuing Education
Continuing
education credits from the Society of Vascular Technology can be provided for all persons completing the course for a single
fee.
