Cardiac Echocardiography Interpretation for Physicians
Course Description This course is designed for physicians who interpret cardiac echos and for technologists performing echo studies. This introductory level course includes cardiac anatomy, hemodynamics, physics, color and spectral Doppler, M-Mode, cardiac calculations, imaging and Doppler techniques and protocols, and basic echo interpretation. The course is specific to the diagnostic methods utilized in the Echocardiography Laboratory and will refine knowledge and reporting techniques. Topic discussion includes the anatomy and hemodynamics, review of testing procedures currently used to diagnose cardiac disorders. Interpretation examples of normal/abnormal studies will be presented, plus a discussion of their clinical implications. Information will be delivered by a combination of PowerPoint presentations, audio/videotapes digital clips and self-assessment quizzes.
